Dolfie Littles

The Volks Halloween Tea October 28, 2006

Tickets to this event were given out in a lottery and guests and dolls came from all over. Special ABJs were offered for sale and a sleeping baby angel was given away. Although we weren't the only Littles to attend we were the largest group. It could have been the type of situation where I was caught without an octopus on my head but instead we did things only Littles can do. Both my sister and I won gift certificates, which were redeemed for Little Walken's body and shoes, and we received door prizes with doll hats and jewelry inside. Xavier, born that Halloween, wears the cross necklace I got that night to this day, he's the Dollzone mini my sister took a picture of for which we won Dollzone prizes getting my sister her first and so far only doll Jareth. It was a lucky time for all of us. By that November Little Walken had joined the family and for a short while we were the Little Dozen

Shi Shi, Kirnan, and Guivnu weren't allowed to come inside the party, although I could have snuck Kirnan inside the doll tote and as a Volks hybrid Guivnu could have gone, but they showed some Obitsu solidarity and hung out in the car with Xavier's head.

Outside the Volks mansion, which I hear they no longer own, in Pacific Palisades. The weather was wonderful, after all it is in Southern California.

Welcome to the party! Yes, Bram is that small. It's easy to forget some times if you're only used to the larger ball joint dolls.

The staircase in the entry way. It was tempting to want to decorate our house this way.

The view out the front door and a quick visit to the fire place. The decor was subdued but nice, not as whimsical or gorey as American Halloween can be. With the mostly Japanese Volks staff the holiday seemed to be about the fun of dressing up and having a party.

The pool and back yard where tables and chairs for the party were set up. We were visited by people dressed as Super Dolfie and the event was filmed by Kyoto television.

The table we sat at and the only other Littles at the party. Bobby and Dauphan helped themselves to the candy. These are the kind of fun things Littles are great for, I didn't see any Yo-SDs hiding in there.

The staff of the Volks store.

Louis hoped he had made a girlfriend but alas she sort of over looked him. Nothing like having the King of France sitting in the lap of Madame du Barry, although my Louis is #14 and she belonged to #15.

The sleeping angel that was given away. At the time I had 12 customs, 11 Littles and my Obitsu 60 Shi Shi, so the next doll in the family would be #13. Although I had Xavier's head I sort of counted by if it was a whole doll. There was a feeling I could have won this little fellow but Xavier was determined to be #13. I remember standing there with Bram telling the sleeping angel we didn't want him and feeling a sort of release that he would go to a different home. By Halloween proper Xavier had made himself #13 and on November 4th Little Walken became doll #14. Now I've sort of given up counting.

At the ceremonial picture spot. It was crowded so we had to move fast. The family theam was black and purple. It was when I had an armful of dolls that someone shouted "Littles!" at them and the name stuck. It's not hard to think of them in the sense of the old cartoon about pixies living in peoples' houses too, they're about the right size. It turns out Bram found himself joining someone else's dolls but he didn't mind.

My! What a fun party it was!

Some of the goodies we put in our scrap book, one of the door prize hats and jewelry sets, the invitation, one of the certificates that I redeemed for Little Walken's body and shoes at the Volks store in LA.
