The dolls don't occupy my every waking hour, breathing and coffee do. I like variety in my life so I'm never fully consumed by the same thing for any long period of time. I like how they put it in FRUiTS magazine- What's your current obsession?
Like many survivors of traumatic brain injury my hearing has been enhanced so I like to observe sound patterns. Just because I have a few, or all, the albums someone put out doesn't mean my every waking hour is devoted to them. I only belong to some fan groups for the sheer entertainment value of the other people it attracts. So in that aspect I do wonder if Rex Stardust ever thinks "Why do I get all the weirdos?"
For my birthdays my dad would give me a radio and tape player, as I wore them out, and my first two tapes were Julian Lennon's Secret Value of Daydreaming and the Monkees' Greatest hits. To tell you how much time I really devote to Julian and his work I never listened o the B side of my Mr Jordan tape in all the years I had it until I spent a whopping $2.50 to get all his stuff on CD. Okay, I spent a bit more than that, but not hearing from him in forever didn't bother me. All I could do is hope that where ever he was, and is, he's happy. Screw a picture of George Harrison not looking haggard being the rarest Beatles collectable, it was a picture of Julian smiling. Hell i don't even have a full set of Beatles between the records, tapes, and CDs. Eventually I might but like the Rock Band game I've lived this long with Revolver, Rubber Soul, and Shabby Road. Love you Neil ;)
My latest memory of Mickey, or any of the Monkees, bringing me happiness is from a trying day of seat filling, seeing him on the floor for what ever reason, and all the joy he's brought me in life coming back. That's how it should be.
I also have quite a bit of Joey McIntyre's work, no matter what he does he's always Joey McIntyre, but mostly I'm a Greatest Hits kind of person. OMD, Led Zeppelin, Pet Shop Boys, The Who, that copy of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Pleasure Dome you get with samples of Tide. I come in to music sideways perhaps, if the Sgt Pepper soundtrack is your first Bee Gees album it has to get better, right? Brb, need to redecorate so I'll put in that copy of Sing Slowly Sisters by Robin Gibb to peel the paint off the walls. If you've heard One Million Years you'll know what I'm talking about.
I'm a girl but I like Monty Python and Rutland Weekend Television. I have some Star Trek TNG and DS9, worked with a few of them can't be bad, Family Guy, Smallville, if it's a doll I've probably seen it but still don't own any House I just like Hugh Laurie and Stephan Frye. Robot Chicken is everything I hope to do with my toys, without half the cursing.
I also enjoy a hell of lot of Muppets and my curiosity has lead me to discover other works they've done. If you've never seen Return to Oz you've never seen the power of a good performer to make you feel for a pumpkin on a stick.
A lot of my time is devoted to writing, and hopefully I'll finish something to the point of being able to publish it. Look for this page to change as I ween myself off being struck blind and deaf by Ken Russell films for Dr Who again.
